Two Bray school buildings to be delivered under PPP Bundle 5
Fine Gael TD for Wicklow, Andrew Doyle, has said the news that two schools in Bray are to receive funding for new buildings under the Public Private Partnership School Building Programme is great news for Bray and demonstrates a commitment to the area for investing in local education.
Deputy Doyle said, “The recent announcement by Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn, that St. Philomena’s National School in Ravenswell and Coláiste Ráithín on Florence Road are to get new school buildings is very welcome. ”
“Having been in touch with teachers and parents over a long number of years, I’m really pleased to see this PPP programme progressing further. Tribute must be paid to those parents, teachers and school staff from both schools who have been lobbying for this development.”
“Both Coláiste Ráithín and St. Philomena’s are excellent schools, with hard working staff providing a superb service to all and are very proud of that fact. There is no doubt however that the schools been constrained by their existing sites. The staff and students have been deserving of new schools for years and I am sure that staff, pupils and parents will be delighted with the prospect of a new school building.”
“These two school building projects for Bray will also provide an important boost to employment in the town and have knock-on benefits in the local economy. The PPP model, just like the N11 upgrade, strengthens the capacity to deliver much needed school places in the current circumstances.”
“An initial completion date has been set for 2016. I look forward to continuing to pursue Minister Quinn and his officials to ensure this programme moves along as swiftly as possible”, concluded Deputy Doyle.
