Taoiseach officially opens Wicklow Local Enterprise Office – Doyle

TaoiseachKennyDoyleHarris-Clermont-May2014Speaking on the official launch of Wicklow’s Local Enterprise office, Andrew Doyle TD explained that the new integration will provide improved services to startups and small businesses across the county of Wicklow.

Deputy Doyle commented, “I would like to thank An Taoiseach for opening Wicklow’s Local Enterprise Office. His presence here signifies our Governments commitment to job creation. Start-ups create two-thirds of all new jobs across the economy and microenterprise remains one of the most vital elements of job creation. We are very fortunate in Wicklow that we have a highly regarded Local Enterprise Office, led by Sheelagh Daly Head of Enterprise and dedicated staff that provides the knowledge base for all of our community who are looking to start up a business or expand an existing business. This new streamlined approach means everyone will be able to access the full range of State supports provided by different Government bodies – for example local authorities, Enterprise Ireland, Revenue, the Department of Social Protection, the Credit Review Office, training bodies – in one easily accessible location within the local authority through the new Local Enterprise Office based in Clermont.”

The establishment of the LEOs will mean that all categories of business including sole traders, micro businesses and small and medium sized companies will have access to Government supports and advice. Previously some businesses for example, companies who were too large to access CEB supports, but were not exporting and therefore did not qualify for Enterprise Ireland supports fell through the cracks between different agencies.
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny commented “The Wicklow LEO will be a ‘first stop shop’ for all Government supports for anyone who wants to start or expand their business and create jobs in the towns and villages of Wicklow. The next step will be to develop local enterprise plans putting micro and small business at the heart of job creation locally”

Deputy added “I am delighted that The Taoiseach officially opened Wicklow’s Local Enterprise Office. As well as advice and direct supports, Wicklow LEO will promote a proactive enterprise approach by organising enterprise events, supporting local business networks and working with local Chambers and other organisations and fostering Wicklow’s entrepreneurial spirit”
