High quality bathing waters good news for Wicklow tourists and residents

GreystonesCoastGuardBoatFine Gael TD for Wicklow, Andrew Doyle, has welcomed the Environmental Protection Agency report declaring all bathing water at Wicklow Beaches as either good or excellent.

“The recent Environmental Protection Agency report has declared bathing water at all Wicklow Beaches as either excellent or good. This is very good news for the people of Wicklow and for tourism in the area.

“Brittas Bay North and South, Greystones and Clogga all scored excellent in the report while Bray North and Silver Strand received a good classification.

“All of those who look after and indeed those who use our beaches are very much to be commended. This does not just happen; it’s due to the ongoing and concerted efforts of Wicklow County Council to improve bathing quality water for all our beaches in Wicklow and to those who responsibly use the beaches.

“Wicklow has so much to offer tourists; mountains, lakes, history beautiful towns and villages. There is no doubt that this report will benefit coastal tourism in Wicklow and will add to Wicklow’s offering as the Garden County of Ireland.

“I would like to congratulate all those involved with looking after our beaches and I would encourage all Wicklow residents to get out and enjoy our beautiful beaches safely and responsibly.”
