The funding for 29 climate and biodiversity projects in Wicklow.

Some €27,639.75 has been allocated to 29 climate and biodiversity projects in Wicklow, a Fine Gael Minister has said.

Minister Doyle said: “I am delighted to confirm the funding to successful applicants around Wicklow.

“St Johns NS, St Laurences NS, Grangecon TT, Hollywood NS, Avoca NS, Newcastle Community Centre, Wicklow Aquanauts, Tearmann Community Garden, Greystones, Arklow, Grangecon Tidy Towns, Valleymount Parish, Arklow CBS, The Bee Sanctuary of Ireland, Edible Bray, East Wicklow Rivers Trust, Fernhill Residents Ass., Gaelscoil na Lochanna, Greystones Brownies, Irish Peatland Conservation Council, Janus Innovations, workshops for schools, Sustainability Education, Greystones CodeDojo and Marine Dimensions.”

“All of these initiatives are determined to tackle climate change and promote biodiversity in our local areas.

“Local, community led initiatives are crucial to delivering the ambition set out in the Climate Action Plan. These projects offer people a tangible, practical way to do their part to tackle the climate challenge and feel more connected to their local community as a result.

“We have a short window of opportunity. We must act now and get behind the transition to a more sustainable path for future generations.”

Minister for Communications, Climate Action and the environment, Richard Bruton said: “It is by working together and supporting these grassroots initiatives that we can deliver the step change required.

“Over 1,028 projects have been successful this year, driving real change in local communities across the country.”

“Almost €1million (€460,000 from the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment matched by funding from local authorities) is available to support hundreds of projects in local communities all across Ireland.”

Minister Bruton said,

“We have a short window of opportunity. We must act now and get behind the transition to a more sustainable path for future generations.”
