Helping rural communities thrive is important to Fine Gael
- In 2016 we launched the Action Plan for Rural Development, aiming to enhance services and resources in rural areas around the country, encouraging social and economic growth.
• The National Broadband Plan is aiming to provide improved broadband services to rural Wicklow. An additional 5,446 premises in Wicklow will have access to high speed broadband in the coming months.
• The reopening of the CLÁR scheme in 2016 has meant more funding for small infrastructural projects and community resources in parts of rural Wicklow. This included €50,000 in funding for Glen of Imaal Mountain rescue services and €33,300 funding for local safety measures and play areas in rural villages in Wicklow.
• €20 million has been dedicated to revitalising rural villages and towns over the next two years, through the Town and Villages Renewal Scheme.
